Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who hosts these files? (DISCLAIMER)None of this sites audio/visual content is hosted on DocumentaryList.NET servers. All media is embedded from other sites such as Vimeo and YouTube. This site does not host any of the streaming media and the owner has not uploaded any of the material to the video hosting servers. Anyone can find the same content on Vimeo or YouTube by them selves. However, Documentary Heaven is a pro-DMCA website and fully respects the wishes and rights of film makers. Content Owners can use the DMCA protocol to request removal of embedded videos that they believe infringe their copyright. The owner of this site is willing to remove any violating material immediately upon request. The copyright owner must further contact the source if he wants his material off the Internet completely. Read the Terms of Use & Privacy Policy as use of this site constitutes acceptance of them.
2. I want to use material featured on this site. How?
Do not ask me to send you material – I don’t have any. If you want to screen or feature some of the films in front of an audience in your community, in theaters, cinemas, festivals, or on a TV Network, please don’t ask me if you’re allowed to. Find the producers and ask them.
3. I want have my film listed on this site. How?
If you are the copyright holder please send us the link where the film can be watched online and embedded from there along with the title and/or description.
4. I have problem viewing the streaming videos. Help!
(Note: If the screen is blank and nothing happens the video has probably been removed, therefore it’s not your fault. Also some of the videos are NOT iPad/iPhone compatible). However if you’re not able to watch any of the videos, the problem is probably on your end. Occasionally people have problems due to their Browser/Internet settings or lack of the necessary software installed. All documentaries are tested on the latest stable release of Firefox before adding to the list. You can Download Firefox here.
Go to YouTube Support Page.
Go to Vimeo Support Page.
Get the latest Flash Player and Shockwave Player. Caution the download page will try to get you to install security software. You can download the players without the extra software.
Get the latest Windows Media Player.
Get the latest Microsoft Silverlight
or DivX Web player. While Divx is a reputable company they are among the worst for sneaking in adware with their installers. You absolutely can install just the Web Player without the adware by choosing custom instead of recommended installation at all steps, you do not need to pay for anything, and be sure to avoid adware during upgrades. For a review of DivX and how to install it without the extras click here.
VLC Web Player for Mac and Windows has been used by some as an alternative of DivX but does not work for everyone. VLC Player also tries to get you to install adware, but it does not install an automatic updater as DivX does, but will give you alerts when an updated stable version is released.
Still having problems? Sorry, there’s nothing more we can do about it.
5. Why have some videos been removed? They have been removed by YouTube, Vimeo, Daily Motion or a similar video hosting service by any number of reasons. DocumentaryList.NET moderators check our embedded videos on a regular basis and remove dead links. However as our site grows it is not possible to do this on a daily basis.
6. Popup Ad’s Let’s face it we all hate them! Personally I really don’t understand why people use them in the first place, they just lead to annoyed users. We have nothing to do with any pop-up’s encountered whilst browsing DocumentaryList.NET. These are built into some video players, but sometimes the only available version of a documentary has pop-ups and in this case I feel its a small price to pay for a decent watch. So if you come across any on your quest for knowledge simply close them once they appear and never provide any personal details if prompted! Also do not install any software you have downloaded or are asked to download without thoroughly researching it and ensuring it is the right choice for you.
